Orkopoulos’ Employee Seeks Compensation for Unfair Dismissal

Gillian Sneddon, who is running as an independent for Orkopoulos’s former state seat of Swansea in New South Wales, is suing him and is claiming compensation for her unfair dismissal. She used to work in his office, where she was locked in 2006. She was formally dismissed by the New South Wales Lower House two years later, on the same day she gave evidence at Orkopoulos’s trial. It is said that Orkopoulos harassed and victimized her when she helped police investigate sex claims against him. In 2008, Orkopoulos was convicted of having sex with three boys and supplying them with heroin and marijuana.  He was sentenced to a maximum of nearly 14 years in jail. Ms. Sneddon is still suing both Orkopoulos and the State government over her dismissal and is waiting for compensation.
