Eastern Musician Omar Faruk Tekbilek to Hold Concerts in Athens & Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki and Athens are welcoming one of the greatest representatives of eastern music and one of the most charismatic musicians of the Mediterranean, Omar Faruk Tekbilek. After holding concerts in Greece over the past years, he will return again to present his work.  His work has spanned over the last twenty-five years and is influenced by the Middle East and Mediterranean regions. His music is deeply rooted in tradition, but also has elements from modern musical idioms. Tekbilek gets inspiration from mysticism, tradition, romanticism and imagination. Considering himself as a messenger of peace, he intends to cooperate with musicians from different countries. Along with Omar Faruk Tekbilek’s musicians, Greece will see for the first time, the lyre virtuoso Lazos Ioannidis.  Ioannidis is an artist who keeps the traditions of Pontus alive. During his concerts, Omar Faruk Tekbilek will play the ney, the baglama, the zurna and percussion instruments.
He is scheduled to perform:
30/03/2011: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
31/03/2011: ATHENS CONCERT HALL
