Nationwide General Labor Strike

A nationwide general labor strike has been called on Wednesday by the country’s two largest labor federations.
The strike will almost completely paralyse the country, closing public offices, schools, banks, hospitals (only emergency services available), customs, pharmacies and stores. The stoppage in the public transport sector, which is in its third consecutive month of protest, will continue today and will culminate tomorrow with the suspension of bus, trolleybus and metro services except for partial connections to allow protestors to reach the centre of Athens for a large protest march at midday.
Domestic and international flights will be affected by cancellations and delays tomorrow in Greece due to a four-hour work stoppage (12pm-4pm) by air traffic controllers and ferry service to the islands will also stop due to another general strike against the government austerity measures. Passenger and cargo services on the railways will also come to a halt. At the same time there will also be an informational black out, as the media will take part in the national protest.
