“EasyBus” Greek-Cypriot Founder Plans Expansion Across Europe

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou is a Greek-Cypriot billionaire and founder of easyJet airlines.  He now plans to drive his easyBus venture across Europe as part of a multi-million pound expansion. EasyBus provides U.K . express coach services to and from London and its main airport. Today the company promotes itself as: “probably the cheapest and most convenient way of getting to and from London from Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports”. The company has transported more than 2.5 million customers since the service began. France, Spain and Germany are some of the countries where expansion of the company’s services may be implemented. It is expected that the business model will be largely the same as in the U.K., with buses running from airports to major cities. Other parts of the U.K. not currently served are also under discussion. The expansion will be partly funded by a potential stock market listing on London’s junior Aim market, estimated to raise approximately £5m, giving the venture some £20m. However a listing is not likely until the start of next year.
The Daily Telegraph reported last week that mid-market investment bankers Liberum Capital and Peel Hunt were being considered as possible advisers.
