Farming Sector Begins Strike on Friday throughout Greece

New strikes in most Greek cities are begining in the farming sector, starting Friday morning. The farmers have occupied the Agricultural Bank of Greece in Pella and Imathia, where they stayed until 2:00 p.m.
The farmers and all agricultural workers are asking among other things, that the Agricultural Bank will remain under the State’s control.
Their demonstrations will reoccur on the 5th of February when they will march at the Exhibition of Poultry and Stock Feeding in Thessalonica.
In Argos there were minor incidents and commotion when farmers blocked the city center until 3:00 p.m.
In Serres, farmers placed their tractors in front of the bank and entered the bank obstructing the day to day business.  They wanted a written confirmation that the specific branch will not shut down.  If it did they would have to travel many kilometers to do their day to day business.
Farmers from Achaia and Larisa are going to take part in all demonstrations and actions.
