Philosopher Jacques Rancière Travels to Athens

French philosopher Jacques Rancière, favorite of French politician Ségolène Royal, is visiting Athens this Monday.  His travel regards the publication of his book “Hatred of Democracy” in Greek.
Born in Algiers in 1940, he is a professor of Philosophy at the University of Paris. He became known with “Reading Capital” which he published with another known philosopher, Louis Althusser.
The areas on which he has recently focused on mainly concern human rights.  Recently he has expressed revolutionary opinions about the art world.  His most famous theory is his version of the aesthetic theory.
His talk is scheduled on Monday, January 24th at the S. Karagiorgos Hall at Panteion University.  It begins at 18:30 and he will be introduced by Giannis Stavrakakis.
