Athenian Pharmacists & Public Transport Workers Plan Strike this Week

More public transport strikes are expected in Athens throughout the coming week.  Workers have continued protest action against government plans for wage cuts and involuntary staff transfers. On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, there will be a work stoppage from 1:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.  Trolley buses will strike from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The Isap electric railway workers will decide on Tuesday if they will continue their protests.  Metro workers decided to postpone their strike action until the end of their contacts with the government.
Pharmacists are orienting themselves towards forty-eight hour, rolling strikes, as a reaction to the opening of their profession. Pharmacies will be closed on Monday and Tuesday in Piraeus.
