Police Arrest & Detain Terrorist Suspects in Athens

Greek anti-terrorist police arrested two men and detained at least six other suspects.  The arrests were made after the discovery of a large weapons cache in a garage in the Nea Smyrni area of Athens.  According to a police statement, a number of detentions have been carried out in the course of extensive investigations by the anti-terrorist department.
Greece currently has two known active far-left extremist groups: Revolutionary Sect and Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei. Revolutionary Sect is believed to possess a large arsenal and is considered to be the main suspect. Police have so far failed to crack Revolutionary Sect, which claimed responsibility for the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old journalist outside his home.
