Dow Chemical CEO Andrew Liveris Offers Lecture @ University of Queensland

Chairman and CEO of Dow Chemical Andrew Liveris will be giving a lecture at the University of Queensland this month.  It will focus on the state of Queensland, Australia and the world in the next 100 years.

Dow Chemical is an American multinational petrochemical giant and was founded in 1897.  Its current value is about 50 billion American dollars. The company employs approximately 45,000 employees worldwide and Liveris is known as one of the most powerful Greeks in the world.

Liveris’ Greek roots originate from Kastelorizo, Greece and he was born in Darwin, Australia. He studied in Queensland and then joined Dow Chemical in 1976.  Now after many years, he heads the giant corporation.  Andrew Liveris says that he is very proud of his Greek roots and considers himself an Australian-American-Greek. He continues by saying: “I will always be Greek, it is my legacy and although people of Greek origin have spread to many different countries they are very aware of where they came from.”

Liveris visits Greece often and stays in Kastelorizo.
