Arianna Huffington to Headline Greek America’s Women Forum

The Greek America Foundation is proud to introduce its Women’s Forum with an inaugural event featuring Arianna Huffington, who will address Greek American professional women at a champagne brunch at Battery Gardens on October 17, 2010.

The purpose of the Women’s Forum is to bring together Greek American professional women for dialogue and interaction in a casual environment and to meet and hear from experts in various fields. The idea for the forum came from Christina Tsesmelis, an attorney in Manhattan who is dedicated to the mission of the Greek America Foundation and its activities and wanted to connect like-minded Greek American professional women.

Recently called a “force of nature” by Newsweek, Arianna Huffington cannot be described with a single title. Whether one agrees with her politics, no one disagrees that she is, indeed, a force of nature.

The Greek-born, naturalized American seems to be everywhere at once. She posts items on her wildly popular digital newspaper The Huffington Post and she’s currently on a nationwide book tour for her 13th book. She does two weekly shows, including Left, Right & Center on public radio and frequently on television. She even lends her voice to a character on The Cleveland Show, an animated comedy series on Fox.

The symbolism of the location is important — as outside the window, Ellis Island appears in the distance. Ellis Island will be the location of the 2011 Gabby Awards, the GAF’s major benefit and fundraiser, scheduled for June 4, 2011.
