Government Creates Electronic Card to Monitor Payments

All taxpayers transactions will ‘pass’ in an electronic card that will be used in all transactions. This card will relieve citizens to collect receipt and thus help the Ministry of Finance monitor the VAT.
To create this card, the system of Interbank payment obligations DIASPOS (DIAS NETWORKS) PLC Systems, infrastructure will be used. This system provides taxpayers the ability to repay their obligations to Greece by using a credit or debit card, via EFT/POS machines, installed in the local tax authorities.
This way taxpayers shall be released from the transfer of cash.  It provides a proper payment system.  Credit facilitation’s will be provided.
Through DIASPOS, the government avoids cash management from employees and has a lower operating cost in transaction settlements.
As Papakonstantinou stated, the card will have the Tax Identification Number of each citizen and will be given either by each bank individually or from the Ministry of Finance.
