Adopted Man Meets His Greek Mother for 1st Time

Peter Knee from England met his biological mother in Greece for the first time, while on holiday on a Greek island.

When Peter married his wife at the age of 19, his parents gave him his birth certificate.  He then found out that he had been adopted. He learned that he had been put up for adoption when he was born and fostered for four months before his adoptive parents, Fred and Irene Knee adopted him. He also learned that his parents were a woman from Greece named Maria Bratsi and an English man named Peter Young.  His biological parents had met in Israel, got married and then moved to Hove, England. However his paternal grandparents had been cruel to his mother and three days after his birth, the authorities said that she was unstable and had to put Peter up for adoption.  When Peter was 30 he received a letter from his biological father and agreed to meet him in Norfolk.  He then learned that his mother had gone to live in Kos after his birth.

Finally Peter found his mother while being on holiday in Kos.  Locals helped him find her through Greek radio station, City 93. He was interviewed and the producers of the station put a plea out for any information about Maria Bratsi. Two hours later two people phoned the studio and said that his mother was alive and she was on the island of Ikaria. Peter met his mother.  She told him she was forced to give him up and had tried to get in touch with him but her searches were in vain.
