Generally travelers to Greece want to experience the splendor of the Greek summer. In the upcoming days temperatures in Athens, central Greece and parts of the Peloponnese are expected to reach a high of 41C (106F). The long hot spell that has sent temperatures and humidity soaring in the majority of the nation is expected to peak today.
However according to the head of the National Meteorological Service Dimitris Ziakopoulos, northwesterly winds will decrease about 3 degrees tomorrow and another 2-3C over the weekend.
Due to the high temperatures The Health Ministry advises citizens to remain indoors unless there is an emergency and to opt for comfortable and colourful clothes. He also advised citizens to protect themselves from the sun with hats and sunglasses, drink alot of water and keep alcohol consumption to a minimum.
