The ferries have reported 100% capacity with Tinos and Paros as the most popular destinations, where the August 15th feast of Virgin Mary is highly celebrated. According to the Pireaus Port Authority, more than 95,000 passengers are expected to leave from Pireaus on Friday and Saturday.
A total of 497 flights and 30 charter flights are scheduled to depart from Athens International Airport on Saturday, with the most popular destinations being Heraklion (Crete), Santorini and Rhodes.
Police have taken precautionary measures on the national roads to prevent accidents.
According to the Weather Bureau, the weather will be hot and temperatures over the following days will reach 40C on the mainland and 37C on the islands
