The municipality of Distomo is currently hosting a group of German students. These youngsters continue the tradition which began in the 1980’s and conveys a message of peace and reconciliation between the two nations. The location of Distomo is well known around the world. One of the biggest World War II massacres happened in Distomo during the Nazi occupation of Greece.
This year marks the 66th anniversary of the biggest massacre of unarmed civilians in history . Among the victims were 53 children, under the age of 16.
