Today Greece’s Prime Minister George Papandreou will be making an official visit to Bulgaria. Papandreou is scheduled to meet with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov immediately upon his arrival in Sofia. Meetings will follow regarding the two leaders as they preside over the first meeting of the Greece- Bulgaria High Level Cooperation Council.
This meeting is very crucial for the future Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline project. This visit is considered as a defining moment of Greek diplomatic initiatives towards their Bulgarian neighbors. The official meetings will be concluded with a signed joint declaration. This afternoon Papandreou is also scheduled to meet with Bulgaria’s President Georgi Parvanov.
