Sculptor Paulos Vrellis Passed Away

Paulos Vrellis, the man who invented The Greek History Museum with wax statues, died last Saturday July 24th. The people of the city of Ioannina where the museum was located mourn for his death. The Greek sculptor was born on Greek Independance Day, March 25, 1923. At the age of four his parents died and he grew up with his paternal aunt who played a critical role throughout his life.
Paulos Vrellis established The Greek History Museum  in 1995. The museum was situated in Bizani, a picturesque village a few kilometers away from the town of Ioannina. Every year millions of visitors have the chance to admire Greek history through the marvellous wax statues of heroes, politicians or even citizens who left their mark in Greece. In fact according to estimations over 8,000,000 visitors came  in Ioannina to admire his magnifiscent work since the museum’s inception! Paulos Vrellis’ funeral took place yesterday in the city he loved  more than any other, Ioannina.
