The 88th Congress of AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) will take place from the 111h to the 18th of July 2010 in Montreal. Many Greek-Americans from the USA, Canda, Greece, Cyprus, Australia and many other countries will participate in the works of the Congress which will be inaugurated in Montreal City Hall (photo) on Monday the 12th of July under the presence of the Mayor of Montreal, Gerald Tremblay, the metropolitan Sotirios of the Greek Metropolis of Toronto and many other Greek-Americans.
Many political notables of Canada have sent greetings while the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. K. Papoulias sent also an especially warm one. The last time such a Congress took place in Montreal was 50 years ago, in 1960.
The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in the USA in 1922 as an organization for the promotion of the Hellenism, Education, Charity, causes, and communities as well as the responsibility of citizens.
On Tuesday, they will conduct an event of “Greek entertainment and Casino night” and on Wednesday they will conduct the “Ball- Star competition of AHEPA familly“. On Thursday, there will be a “French- Canadian Barbeque and Greek Event” in Saint- Eustache. On Friday, the last great event, the Official Dinner will be held and it is expected to have more that 800 persons.
In addition, many cultural events, speeches, concert and sport activities will also be organised.
