Greek request for the extradition of a Greek accused of drug trafficking

Greece asked for the extradition by the Australian authorities, of the 54 years old Vassilis Constantinou, accused of participation in a gang of drug trafficking.

The Greek police accuses him that trafficked cannabis with seven other people and wants to interrogate him. They found 800 trees, 50 kg cannabis and 21kg of cannabis seeds in the gang’s procession.

Constantinou was surrendered in the Australian authorities, is arrested in the prison of South Australia, while the procedure of extradition is in process.
The accused said that when he left Greece in 2005, he didn’t know that he was wanted by the Greek police.

Recently, he was taken to the Adelaide’s Court that announced the Greek request for his extradition. The judge didn’t decide his preventive detention due to special reasons.
The Federal Court said that the Court of First Instance misjudged and now Constantinou is prisoner in Yatala prisons of Adelaide.
