The President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad, Stefanos Tamvakis communicated the determination of all the Greeks living in foreign countries to support Greece, through selecting it as a tourist destination, during his meeting with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Pappoulias who welcomed him earlier today.
“The Hellenism of the Diaspora must come to Greece. In no case will they have their holidays elsewhere. The same applies for the friends of Greece, who are many and everywhere. The Council initiative’s aim is to be able to mobilize as many as possible so that, even if they were initially planning to go elsewhere on their holidays, to come to Greece this year and support your own personal efforts, Mr. President but also the government’s, our people, the ecumenical Hellenism, our homeland, which we love and miss” said Mr. Tamvakis and noted that he already informed the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Giorgos Nikitiadis on the initiative of SAE.
The President of the Council also noted that Greece is available for tourism all year through, whilst there is potential for conference tourism.
“We are looking forward to a term of longer standing and this effort is not just for this year, but for all these years, to allow Greeks to visit the county” emphasized Mr. Tamvakis and added that “The other reason, of course is that we love our Greece, we miss it and we love it”, Mr. Papoulias intervened, adding that “Those of you who are abroad are the ones who love Greece the most”.
