Beijing International Tourism Expo 2010

China is highly interested in Greece as a tourist destination but also as an investment field and this was apparent during the visit of the Minister for Civilization and Tourism in Beijing. Pavlos Geroulanos visited Beijing for the important tourist exhibition Beijing International Tourism Exp (BITE) 2010.
China market is of strategic importance for the Greek tourism and can contribute to the extension of the tourist period over the summer months, as Chinese people are most interested in the Greek civilization; they detest the warm months and organize their trips abroad especially during autumn and spring during their national days. In addition, they have high incomes which is something extremely important for boosting the tourism especially now.
In all the meetings conducted by the Minister for Civilization and Tourism, the respect expressed by the Chinese for the Greek civilization was more than apparent as well as the further tightening of the relations between the two countries. This can easily be explained by the fact that Beijing was the city that offered hospitality to the Olympic Games in 2008 following those of 2004 in Athens.
The Minister for Civilization and Tourism met among others the Director of the Tourism Bureau in Beijing Mrs. Zhang HuiGuang who announced that the airline company Capital is ready to introduce a new route between Greece and China. In addition, they mentioned that there is the need to simplify the procedure of visa publication for Chinese people as well as the need to add the Chinese language in signaling of nodes such as the airport El. Venizelos. The Minister for Civilization and Tourism assured that the procedures of visa publication will be simplified very soon.
