The Greek Language is taught in 303 universities all over the world!

In Australia, there are 18 universities and 149 public schools that teach modern Greek; in India, there are 2 such universities; in Italy 15 universities and 3 public schools and in Spain 20 universities and 3 public schools. But also universities teaching Greek are located in Syria, Lithuania, Japan, South Africa, Venezuela, Slovenia, Russia, and Israel. Information for all the educational institutions- public and private- that provide lessons of the Greek Language in Greece but also in other foreign countries, one can find in the guide written in English with title “Institutions Offering Courses of Modern Greek in Greece and abroad” which was published by the Centre of the Greek Language in cooperation with the Directorate of International Educational Relations of the Ministry of Education.
This guide provide addresses and information for 303 universities in all over the world and for 269 public schools, for lessons of “Modern Greek for foreigners” that are provided in an organized way in Greece on the one hand and for the complete programs of Modern Greek Studies offered by universities throughout the world on the other.
In addition, in this guide one can find some community schools (ecclesiastic etc) abroad where the Greek Language is studied, bibliography of handbooks for the Greek language and its teaching as a foreign one and finally the addresses of the Greek consular authorities abroad where all those interested in learning Greek can address their inquiries.
The new edition of the guide constitutes a complete revised edition of that of 1995 under the same tilte. The guide as well as all 12 publications of the Centre of the Greek Language are disposed by the bookstore “Estia” while its material will be available very soon to the visitors of the website of the Centre of the Greek Language.
