Greek officials say Turkish military jets have flown dangerously low over a Greek frigate in international waters in the eastern Aegean Sea.
Navy spokesman Commander Diamantis Christodoulou says the direct overflight occurred Tuesday afternoon, some 500 feet (150 metres) above the frigate Salamis.
He said two out of a formation of seven Turkish fighters engaged in the manoeuvr between the islands of Chios and Samos. Athens is expected to make a formal complaint to Ankara.
Regional rivals and uneasy NATO allies Greece and Turkey came three times to the brink of war between 1974 and 1996 over the island of Cyprus and Aegean boundaries.
Relations have improved over the past decade but military tension remains palpable.
