A heart-shaped bouquet of white roses requested by Black Country murder suspect Luke Walker will travel with the body of girlfriend Chelsea Hyndman on her final journey.
Walker’s father Patrick revealed today that his 22-year-old son, who is in custody in Greece charged with killing Miss Hyndman, had asked him to order flowers for her funeral, which is set for tomorrow.
Three friends of the couple are travelling from Malia, in Crete, for the funeral with a hand-written card from Walker, of Brierley Hill, to his girlfriend of three years.
Greek authorities have granted special permission to allow Walker’s mother and brother to be with him in prison when Miss Hyndman is laid to rest.
Mr Walker has told Miss Hyndman’s family he will be at the service in her home town of Castleford, West Yorkshire, after his son said he wanted him to go.
He had previously said his attendance would depend when documents he believes are crucial to his son’s case were released. Full post-mortem reports are due to be issued by Greek and British doctors.
Mr Walker said: “Luke wants me to go. I have got to get a heart of white roses from him. That’s what he wanted.
“I think Tuesday will be hard for Luke. It’s better news that the Greek authorities will let my wife and son be with him, they seem to be being a bit more understanding.”
Miss Hyndman, aged 21, died in hospital in Crete on May 17. Walker was charged with murder by Greek police who allege he beat her to death.
Walker claims she fell on a beer glass during a girls’ night out.
