2nd Kosmos Festival at the Vrahon Theatre

The 2nd Kosmos Festival is back and takes place on 11 and 12 June 2010 at the Vrahon Theatre in Athens, Greece with some of the most notable contemporary sounds in world, ethnic, soul and jazz music and everyone is invited to join in the celebration. Scheduled for Friday 11 June are The Specials, Dub Inc and Staff Benda Bilili; appearing on Saturday 12 June 2010 will be Ojos de Brujo, Shantel, Amparo Sanchez and the Smoking Bandits. Staff Benda Bilili (Congo); This unusual band of musicians with physical disabilities started out on the streets of Kinshasa to make an impact around the world with the raw power of their music, rooted in Congolese rumba with elements of old-school rhythm ‘n blues and reggae.
Dub Inc (France)
Dub Inc from France and a multi-ethnic band playing reggae and dub with the passion and electricity of the early Mano Negra.
The Specials (England)
The greatest British ska band with the legendary and often heard “A Message to You Rudy”.
Amparo Sanchez (Barcelona)
The Spanish singer who combines erotic flamenco with Afro-Cuban tradition, supported by Joey Burns and John Convertino of Calexico.
Shantel (Germany)
The “king of the Balkan dance floor” who is responsible for the music of the film The Edge of Heaven, by the German director of Turkish descent, Fatih Akin.
Ojos de Brujo (Barcelona)
The band from Catalonia with the hip-hop flamenco sound, rich rhythm and melodies, full of power and emotion.
The 2nd Kosmos Festival on 11 and 12 June at the Vrahon Theater in Athens, featuring the greatest names in modern world and ethnic music, will be an unforgettable event.
