Former Minister Anastasios Mandelis is Now Prohibited to Leave the Country

Former Minister Anastasios Mandelis, is now prosecuted on the degree of felony, for money laundering activity and is refused to leave the country.
The prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Mr John Sakelakos, announced openly the prosecution against the former Minister, on the basis of, yesterday’s statement to the Committee and the evidence of the banking accounts in Switzerland.
As announced by the Prosecutor’s Office, Prosecutor John Tendes, took note of the positions expressed to the Committee of inquiry from the former Minister Tasos Manteli and requested John Sakellako, the Head of Public Prosecution of the Court of Appeal of Athens , to initiate the prohibition of the former Minister to leave the country.
John Sakellako, issued the provision which prohibited his ability to leave the country, at 14:00 today.
Today, George Petalotis, said on behalf of the government that there is a need of “clear” and “implicit” prosecution against T. Mandeli “and any politician who behaved similarly.”
When Mr. Petalotis was asked whether PASOK knew about Mr. Mandelis affairs, he responded by saying “if we knew it, we would reveal it” and emphasized that “if there is any suspicion that some politicians of PASOK are not consistent with legitimacy, we shall act accordingly.”
Mr. Petalotis, stressed that the Government will exhaust all possible options, so that, no one that comes to parliament will leave unpunished, if they confess that they have received and taken any kind of briberies.
Research was conducted today at the offices of Siemens in Maroussi, after the mandate of the Inquiring Committee.
The Head of the Inquiring Committee, Mr. Sifis Balirakis said, that there are serious indications that there were many politicians engaged to the Siemens scandal ‘ and here there is evidence ‘
Mr Balyrakis, noted that he will request the activation of all mechanisms on an international level, regarding to the handling of ‘ black money’ and in this case, dealing with ‘ organized crime ‘.
