Mr Wydler’s opion is that the images in the Media with the social arousal and the strikes in Greece will discourage tourists to visit Athens, but believes that movement towards the islands will not be affected.
He also believes that vacation in Greece will be cheaper by 30% due to travel agencies’ better offers and due to a weaker euro against the Swiss frank which benefits Swiss travelers. He advises the Swiss to visit Greece, but to be well-informed by the travel agencies, by the airway companies and the Swiss Foreign Ministry. He also noted that panic is unjustified, that under the present circumstances tourism is an important source of revenue for Greece and if someone cancels vacation in Greece he will be aiding further weakness of the Greek economy.
The spokesman of the Swiss Foreign Ministry stated in the newspaper that Swiss tourists should avoid rally areas and to communicate with their travel agencies in case problems come up. He added that up until now no Swiss has ever needed help when in Greece.
