Obama’s Policy on Greek & Cypriot Issues

The Obama government’s policy on Greek and Cypriot issues was discussed last week at Greece’s Press Room in New York, by two analysts of the Institute CATO in Washington, along with newspaper “Eleftherotypia” correspondent in the American capital, Dimitri Dima and the executive director of the Greek-American Institute, Niko Larigaki.
During his inaugurative speech N. Larigaki made a comparison of the pre – election statements and stance of President Obama and the after the elections stance of his government, on Turkey, Greece and Cyrpus issues. He noticed an inconsistency by the American government stance today. He mentioned Obama’s visit to Turkey, the second one since he assumed the presidency and his speech to the Turkish House with references to Cyprus and the Patriarchate, the negative remarks by the American ambassador in Cyprus on the invasion and occupation of Cyprus and the corrective statements by the American Defence minister. He went to say that for president Obama, Turkey is the “absolute alley”.
The question is what actions will the Greek American community take.
