Australia issues travel recommendations for Greece

Australian citizens who are in Greece, or are planning to visit, are being informed that because of the announcement of new economic measures in Greece, there are more strikes to come.
It also points out that often there are violent incidents at rallies and urging Australians to avoid them and also informs them about a possible strike in public transportation.
Australia issues travel recommendations for all countries and renews whenever necessary, to inform the public that “something changed”.
The last travel advice refers to the new global pandemic of influenza, the risk of terrorist attack, a violent insurgency and locals mistreating tourists.
Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Australia calls on the citizens who live in or traveling to Greece, to be alerted, especially after recent cases of violence and turmoil in the country.
Subsequently, stated that public transportation are not safe and in certain occasions, accidents take place. It is noted that in recent years many people have died in a shipwreck and in car accidents.
Moreover, the Government of Australia reports that Greeks have an aggressive driving behavior and that vehicles don’t pass inspection and maintenance often.
Recalled that Greece is a country with many earthquakes, and it’s being pointed that if tourist is involved in an accident, he or she may need to be hospitalized In the mainland of Greece or even in another country as the cost is extremely high.
