Papoulias to swear an oath for second term as President of Greece

papoulias12-3Today, Karolos Papoulias is to swear an oath as Greek President. Mr. Papoulias will take on a second term as the Greek President.
Greek lawmakers have re-elected the 80-year-old Karolos Papoulias for a second term as the country’s president in a move to avert political instability.
Both the ruling Socialists and the main conservative opposition New Democracy Party backed Papoulias, giving him 266 votes in the 300-seat parliament. His new five-year term begins on March 12.
Greek President Karolos Papoulias was re-elected to a second term by parliament at a special sitting on February 3. He was re-elected with an overwhelming majority, with 266 votes in favor from total of 298 attendants. The re-electron of Papoulias was proposed by the ruling party PASOK (160 MPs) and was backed by the first opposition power New Democracy (91 MPs) and by the far right LAOS party (15 MPs).
