It’s all about “Barry” as London Greeks smile again

4Barry Evangeli (foto) made a return to the capital’s only Greek radio station, following an 18-month break, partly due to a disagreement at the way in which the station was being run.
Speaking to the London Daily News Barry Evangeli said:
“It’s good to be back, I missed interacting with the listeners, and I am looking forward to help London Greek Radio find its way again”.
London Greek Radio has been a victim of the UK and Greek recessions, with advertising spends dropping across the board down by 20%, resulting in the station’s head count reduced, and a smaller roster of presenters.
“The station needs to move with the times, the Greek community of London, are now involved in every major public and private sector body and organisation, either as business owners or as professionals. They demand a credible and representative radio station that they can identify with”, said Barry Evangeli.
Barry Evangeli will appear on Tuesday and Thursday for a two-hour slot between 4-6pm during drive time, “then we will see how we get on”.
London is the home to an estimated 350,000 Greek speakers mainly from Cyprus and Greece.
