The Greek Heritage Society of Southern California (GHS) announced its new officers and board for 2010. Newly-elected President Shelly Papadopoulos (photo left) has been an active member of the Greek American and Southern California community for over 35 years. In addition to her 14-year involvement with GHS, Shelly has been a trustee of the Culver City Education Foundation and served as president for three years. She was actively involved in Culver City PTA and related educational and civic organizations. She has volunteered in various capacities for the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival since its inception in 2007. Most recently, Shelly has served as Fundraising Chair, Documentary Premiere Chair and Executive Producer of the acclaimed GHS documentary, The Promise of Tomorrow, which has received the 2009 Award of Excellence by the Film Advisory Board in Hollywood, California.

GHS sincerely thanks its outgoing president, Zoye Fidler, for her many years of service. Ms. Fidler will remain on the GHS Board. GHS also thanks Faye Demetriou for her many years of dedicated support as a board member, and her exemplary service as its Secretary. GHS wishes her well in her many church-related activities and will continue to call upon her as GHS’ Greek-American Historical Consultant.
