Dogtooth wins Stockholm: Lanthimos fest fave wins events Bronze Horse

Greek helmer Yorgos Lanthimos (foto) “Dogtooth” nabbed the main award, the Bronze Horse for film, at the 20th Stockholm Film Festival on Saturday.
Pic, which has previously won in Cannes, Montreal, Sitges and Sarajevo, tells the darkly humorous story of family as a prison.
U.S. Mexican co-production “Sin nombre,” about a couple trying to get into the U.S. illegally, won best first feature for director Cary Fukunaga and actor for Edgar Flores, while the Fipresci international critics voted it best film.
Actress Mo´Nique nabbed actress for her portrayal of the mother in “Precious.”
U.K. helmer-scriptwriter Eran Creevy won screenplay laurels for “Shifty.”
The audience honor went to Louie Psihoyos’ docu “The Cove,” about the slaughter of dolphins in Japanese waters.
Fest’s lifetime achievement award went to Susan Sarandon, the Visionary award to helmer Luc Besson and the L’Oreal rising star honor to thesp Anastasios Soulis.
