Mad Max sequence to be filmed in 2010

According to The Daily Telegraph, Greek Australian director George Miller (Miliotis) is planning to film the fourth sequence to the “Mad Max” movies, entitled “The Fury Road”, in Australia, as early as next year.

George Miller, academy award winner, stated at a Sydney press conference yesterday that he is in the middle of completing the list of actors which will take part in the film and that the list is still inconclusive. However, he has stated that Mel Gibson will not be part of the cast this time; However, Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron have been chosen for the starring roles. Rumor has it that Aussie Terminator star Sam Worthington is being eyed for the leading role of the Road Warrior.

The $100 million production will be shot in the Australian outback mining town of Broken Hill in New South Wales and in Sydney.

The fourth part of the Australian franchise is set to be one of the largest and most ambitious live-action films ever made in Australia and will create over 500 jobs.

George Miller, apart from a filmmaker, screenwriter & producer is also a medical doctor (physician). His father Dimitris is originally from the Greek island of Kythira and his mother is from Anatolia. George also has three brothers Chris, Bill and his non-identical twin John. Miller wrote & directed all three Mad Max movies; co-wrote Babe and directed its sequel; co-wrote & directed Lorenzo’s Oil ; directed the Witches of Eastwick; and as the creator of Happy Feet, receive his fourth Oscar nomination and his first win in the category of Best Animated Feature. His future projects include : the Odyssey to be completed in 2012.
