Mötley Crüe, along with some of rock’s top touring acts, will hit the road again this summer for Crüe Fest 2: The White Trash Circus. The Live Nation produced tour will visit cities around the world and across North America beginning May 17, 2009 in Colombus, OH through September 5th in Darien Lake, NY. Tickets are available for sale at www.CrueFest2.com , www.Motley.com and livenation.com.
Last summer’s multi-artist inaugural Crüe Fest was the number ten tour overall for the summer of 2008, according to Rolling Stone. Featuring Mötley Crüe, Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx:A.M. and Trapt, the festival played for nearly half a million rock fans to Live Nation amphitheaters and arenas in 40 cities across North America.
Says Mötley’s Tommy Lee, “Last year at Crüe Fest, we set out to have more fun than humans are allowed to have. We succeeded beyond that. This year, we are going to top that and I guarantee we will.”
Tommy Lee has one more reason to be excited about this year’s tour because the band will perform live in his hometown, Athens, Greece. In a recent interview with LA Times he says, “I’ve never played there, and it’s my hometown. I’m so excited, I swear, I’m going to cry, dude.” He also mentions his favorite Greek spot in Southern California. “One of my favorite spots is Taverna Tony in Malibu. I’ve known Tony [Koursaris] for years, and the food is incredible. They’ve got the band playing, belly dancers, they smash the plates on the floor, they party. I always ask Tony what’s good and leave it to him. But there’s one thing I always order, because it’s a real comfort food for me, and it’s a traditional Greek soup called avgolemono — chicken soup with egg and lemon.”
About Motley Crue
Motley Crue recently returned to the top of the charts with Saints of Los Angeles, their first new studio album with the original line-up — Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil — in a decade and the ninth studio album in their career. Based on the band’s New York Times bestseller The Dirt, the disc debuted at #1 on the Independent Album chart and was the top debut of the week on the Billboard Top 200 albums at #4. “Saints of Los Angeles,” which was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at this year’s Grammy Awards, was also noted as the #1 Rock Song of the Year in 2008 by iTunes critics. Crue Fest, last summer’s most successful touring rock festival and the number ten tour overall (according to Rolling Stone), played for nearly half a million rock fans throughout North America. Crue Fest 1 featured Motley Crue along with Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx:A.M. and Trapt. A special 20th Anniversary version of Dr. Feelgood is set for release later this spring.
